Vox Draconis - Heed the Call

Long ago, civilization was spread by the sword. Vicious and terrible monstrosities lurked in the dark places of the world, and they were many in number. Adventurous souls, outcast from normal society by virtue of their questionable methods and motives, sought the great ancient treasures of the world in the darkest corners. Temples to forgotten gods, rotting dungeons, and vast ruins in the wilderness beckoned with promises of riches beyond imagining…. and often rewarded those who answered the call with fates worse than death itself.

But for those who survived…. those who triumphed…. tales were told of them for ages to come.

Now, return to that age of barbarism, passion, and greed. Gold and glory are calling your name. Will you answer?

About the System

Vox Draconis takes inspiration from, but does not copy, the old rules-light roleplaying games of the 1970s. With a diverse array of attributes, classes, and races, VD gently guides players towards the roles they develop themselves. There are no skill lists or complex rules to get in the way of the action.

There is no unified mechanic in Vox Draconis. Each class has its own unique feel, and the rules enable players to explore the dangerous wilds on their own terms, without resorting to ability score rolls, skill points, or predetermined powers to tell them what they can and cannot do.

Making the Dungeon Crawl Fun Again

Vox Draconis is designed as a dungeon crawl game. That doesn’t mean, though, that players will be forced to endure endless battles as they check room by room in a mind-numbing game session. Instead, by giving the players a series of concise, open-ended rules, VD offers players a return to the fantastic action and gritty stories of the olden days. Tales of a certain black-haired barbarian may spring to mind…. or, perhaps, the darker and more ominous pulp tales of latter day stories.

Whatever your tastes, Vox Draconis lets you live another life, one filled with danger and adventure.

Releases

The first release, due out in Q4 of 2010, is the Vox Draconis rulebook – the only book you’ll ever need to play the game.

Adventure setting books will follow each quarter. These books are a little like adventure modules, offering plenty of plot hooks and rich settings to explore, but without an overarching plot to railroad players into. They will average about 32-64 pages.

In addition, Silver Gryphon Monthly will have regular Vox Draconis features written both by us and by fans every month, available completely free!
