The seventh day of the challenge on July 7, 2014 … 7-7 for the day and month, 14 for the year, 7 + 7 = 14. Seven years ago, the date was 07-07-07 … numerology is a crazy thing to deal with. Some people hit it and they see patterns, others look at it as an obsessive-compulsive fixation. Numbers feature heavily in patterns as well, from the Fibonacci sequence, to the simple geometry of art and illusion. Numbers are a theme in writing, and feature in many books, perhaps none so eloquently as the simple fractal art in the chapter headings of Jurassic Park.
While numbers don’t need to be a part of the challenge today (it’s a creative challenge, do what you will!), we’d love to see what you can do with the simple concept of numbers. Patterns, repetition, codes, ciphers…once you get going, there really is nothing simple about the concept, but it all starts very small. Integers, odd and even numbers, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, set theory…everything builds on everything else. Just like creativity, nothing in numerology comes from nothing. It all starts somewhere, and sometimes, it starts very small.
