I want to clarify Silver Gryphon Games’ stance on AI artwork.
We believe that AI artwork, as it’s being used and as it has the potential to be used, does more harm than good.
If you asked me a month ago how I felt about AI artwork, I would have said something to the effect of “it’s fascinating and a great tool for any artist’s toolbox!” It’s been a long time since I’ve so completely changed my opinion about something in so short a time.
Previously, I had used AI-generated artwork for the four most recent blog posts on here. I wanted to spice up each post with a bit of imagery, and AI was a quick and easy way to do that. I’ve removed all four of the AI-generated images from this site. We have never used AI artwork for anything other than those four blog posts.
Going forward, Silver Gryphon Games will not use AI artwork. This includes both artwork generated solely by AI and artwork produced by human artists but with the assistance of AI.
We are committed to supporting the artist community. This is especially true of independent contract artists. We will continue to contract those artists directly and pay a fair and sustainable rate. We will do everything we can to insure that any artwork we use in our advertisements, books, or other publications is 100% human-crafted.
